This morning, the entire crew of ‘Mankatha’ excluding Thala Ajith Kumar and producer Dayanidhi Azhagiri were present addressing the media channels. Speaking on the occasion, director Venkat Prabhu started shedding lights on how ‘Mankatha’ shaped up. He said, “Initially, I wanted to make the film with my usual team and planned of signing Vivek Oberoi and Sathyaraj for the lead characters. Even producers Dayanidhi Azhagiri and Vivek Rathinavelu accepted to take up the project and decided to fly down to Mumbai for finalizing the locations.
Next day morning, we were heading for putting up stickers to our car and had a call from Thala Ajith Kumar. I heard him saying, “What Venkat Prabhu are you making any film for Dayanidhi Azhagiri?’ and I replied, “Yes Thala…’ Apparently, he asked me whether there is any negative character for him like Heath Ledger in ‘The Black Knight’. I said, “Yes, the film is about 5 baddies and one of them is terribly bad.’ His absolute reply was, “I will do this role…”
Adding more, Venkat Prabhu said, “I am really thankful to Arjun sir. In spite of knowing that this is Thala’s 50th film and there will less prominence for him, he chose to take up the film.”
Director Venkat Prabhu announced that the film will be released by end of August. Two songs (Vada Bin Laida and Machi open the Bottle) and a trailer were screened for the Media people.
