Don and Billa! All these versions were rocking at the peak at their times and the recent blockbuster in the town of Kodambakkam Billa 2007 has entered the Cannes Festival now. The main reason why the film has to gush through the minds of selection committee of Cannes was that of the stylish sleek Ajith Kumar and spicy presentation of Vishnu Vardhan.
The festival is soon to commence and our Billa will be screened at the place where it will be viewed by directors, producers and film technicians from various parts of the world taking part.

Life as Ajith is never easy! For some inexplicable reason, failure and success seem to alternate with regularity for this star, especially in the past few years. And Ajith never wants it easy, after all, at heart he is a racer who is willing to take all the hits in the fast lane. He never has denied failures, nor has he flaunted his success, he has carried them with the same dignity and remained surprisingly low key and media shy for a Kollywood star. At times these might have worked against him but he chose not to change. That is the reason his fans, huge in numbers have also not changed, sticking with him through the good and the bad, the thick and the thin.
As an actor, Ajith has done a spectrum of roles. Right from the college boy, the chocolate lover, angry young man, struggling middle class youngster, family man, psycho, cop, gangster and many more of the limited range of characters that a regular Kollywood hero is offered. To pick a few is difficult but Kadhal Kottai, Vaali and Mugavari are the films that first come to mind when one thinks of the movies that set him on the path to being the Ultimate Star. In spite of having proved himself in roles of varying demands there remain people who doubt whether Ajith really belongs in the big league. Quite a few failures in the past years have contributed to it but criticism directed towards Ajith has always had a dismissive edge to it. It might be out of sheer frustration from the fact of such a talented young actor walking into the wrong script over and over again, but it has often shifted focus away from the real picture of what Ajith can do when armed with the right script. Based on all that he has done in is nearly 20 year long career, Ajithâs acting skills must never be questioned. May be he is not an acting genius in the way critics use the term, but Ajith is indeed a presence on screen and it is time that this be acknowledged instead of looking at him only through his last movie.
May 1 2007 to May 1 2008. The last one year in Ajithâs life has been great. Though it might have started with the lingering taste of Aalwarâs disappointment, all that changed with Kreedom. We all saw it and said together that this was undoubtedly Ajithâs best ever performance on screen. A role immortalized by one of Indiaâs finest actors recreated by one of Tamil cinemaâs most vibrant stars. Kreedom was undoubtedly a crowning glory for Ajith. But that was just the beginning. Emulating the Superstar is no mean game and might give jitters to even the best in the business. To be Billa is not everyoneâs cup of coffee but Ajith proved that he can hold it. Backed by a solid team, he produced what we think is one of the finest tight rope walks in recent times. Billa broke records and more importantly a few detractorsâ predictions. Ajith had arrived! Of course, he had arrived a long time back, in fact many times, but this time we think he has arrived on a different plane. But the best thing in the past year definitely must be fatherhood. Blessed with a daughter, Ajith must have bee the happiest man on the planet. Now he has Aegan and a project with Gautham to follow. Not to mention the MGR award that he received from the state government- life has been good.
The one thing that many people donât like or want Ajith to change is his choice of scripts and movies. We donât like to see a star of his stature in the hands of an immature director and then shouldering the blame for something that would have gone wrong anyway. But we must also know that at heart Ajith is still a racer, living life on the edge. There is only one way that a racer knows, take the road, the corners or the choices that appears before you; in the fast lane you donât pause to think twice. Yes, there have been bad roads and blind turns and they have led to problems. But for every problem there is a pit-stop, a change of tyres, refueling, and the racer always knows where the car has to reach- the chequered flag. No doubt, Ajith the racer and Ajith the Ultimate Star always know the way to the chequered flag and a winning finish. Happy Birthday.

Blessed with a daughter, Ajith must have bee the happiest man on the planet. Now he has Aegan and a project with Gautham to follow. The one thing that many people donât like or want Ajith to change is his choice of scripts and movies. We donât like to see a star of his stature in the hands of an immature director and then shouldering the blame for something that would have gone wrong anyway. But we must also know that at heart Ajith is still a racer, living life on the edge. There is only one way that a racer knows, take the road, the corners or the choices that appears before you; in the fast lane you donât pause to think twice. Yes, there have been bad roads and blind turns and they have led to problems. But for every problem there is a pit-stop, a change of tyres, refueling, and the racer always knows where the car has to reach- the chequered flag. Life as Ajith is never easy! For some inexplicable reason, failure and success seem to alternate with regularity for this star, especially in the past few years. And Ajith never wants it easy, after all, at heart he is a racer who is willing to take all the hits in the fast lane. He never has denied failures, nor has he flaunted his success, he has carried them with the same dignity and remained surprisingly low key and media shy for a Kollywood star. At times these might have worked against him but he chose not to change. As an actor, Ajith has done a spectrum of roles. Based on all that he has done in is nearly 20 year long career, Ajithâs acting skills must never be questioned. May be he is not an acting genius in the way critics use the term, but Ajith is indeed a presence on screen and it is time that this be acknowledged instead of looking at him only through his last movie.

hi fans,, did any one read last week anandha viktan!..in that there was an artical about gautham menon..in that viktan reporter ask are u a surya director?.. he confessed that he had told stories to many hero but no one were will to do the movie how he expected only surya doing..he went above the line and broke the truth that once he told a story to the mass hero vijay as usual he kept quiet and listen to him without any intruption. at the end vijay was eager to do the movie and only one thing he asked to gauthm that he want to add some commercial scene in the story. so vijay given two dvd to gautham and wanted some commercial scene from the dvd..when gautham open the dvd he was shocked..its none other than its vijay`s own movie THIRUPACHI AND SIVAKASI.. Billa- Part 2 to get ready?

Billa directed by Vishnuvardhan with Ultimate Star Ajith recorded a thumping victory at the box office. The film was talked about for the manner in which it was stylishly and suavely shot. Costumes of the lead cast were the talk of the town especially that of Nayantharaâs.

Following this victory, it has been reported in the industry that Billa â Part 2 is likely to be made which will be produced by Saundarya Rajinikanth on behalf of her Ochre studios in association with Warner Brothers.
When Ajithâs office was contacted for confirmation, they said that he is right now at Yercaud shooting for Aegan and after completing the same, the actor would be busy with Gautham Menonsâs film and any announcement on Billa 2 would be made only after Ajith completes these two films.

The grapevine is abuzz that our “Ultimate” star Ajit has signed a record deal with Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Ocher Studios to do a film for them. Ajit and Vishnuvardhan are planning a sequel to their highly successful Billa, and are in discussion at the moment.
Last month, Soundarya Rajinikanth has tied up with the Hollywood major `Warner Brothers` into an exclusive multi-picture deal with her Ocher Studios. The deal is for three years and Soundarya will make live-action feature films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
As a part of the deal, Soundarya will be doing her first Tamil film with Ajit. The grapevine has it that it was dad (Rajinikanth), who gave her the brilliant idea of making a sequel to Billa with Ajit.
The buzz is that Ajit has signed up the film for an astronomical Rs 10.01 crore! Yes the market is abuzz that Ajit will be paid a cool Rs Ten crore and One Lakh for the film, which will be made on a budget of Rs 30 crore. Sources close to the actor refused to comment on this record deal, the highest ever to be paid as salary to a Kollywood actor after Rajinikanth.
Meanwhile Ajit will be completing work on his Aegan and moving on to do Sivaji Productions new action thriller to be directed by Gautham Menon by November. After the film releases on April 14, 2009, he will start the shoot of Billa-2 for Ocher Studios.

The grapevine is abuzz that our “Ultimate” star Ajit has signed a record deal with Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Ocher Studios to do a film for them. Ajit and Vishnuvardhan are planning a sequel to their highly successful Billa, and are in discussion at the moment.
Last month, Soundarya Rajinikanth has tied up with the Hollywood major `Warner Brothers` into an exclusive multi-picture deal with her Ocher Studios. The deal is for three years and Soundarya will make live-action feature films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
As a part of the deal, Soundarya will be doing her first Tamil film with Ajit. The grapevine has it that it was dad (Rajinikanth), who gave her the brilliant idea of making a sequel to Billa with Ajit.
The buzz is that Ajit has signed up the film for an astronomical Rs 10.01 crore! Yes the market is abuzz that Ajit will be paid a cool Rs Ten crore and One Lakh for the film, which will be made on a budget of Rs 30 crore. Sources close to the actor refused to comment on this record deal, the highest ever to be paid as salary to a Kollywood actor after Rajinikanth.
Meanwhile Ajit will be completing work on his Aegan and moving on to do Sivaji Productions new action thriller to be directed by Gautham Menon by November. After the film releases on April 14, 2009, he will start the shoot of Billa-2 for Ocher Studios.

Alas! Itâs a great disappointment for not just Vijay fans, but for audiences who expected a lot from Director Dharani. Director who earlier rocked with blockbuster flicks like Dhill, Dhool and Ghilli has completely presented us with a film that has nothing attractive. All throughout the film, you have the lots of absurdities that will get you annoyed. Well, we are sure even the surest fans of Vijay would been greatly discomfited. Vijay jumping from the height of 150ft bridge and getting hold of a running train at high speed.
The film opens with tycoon Suman and Ashish Vidhyarthi as local MLA at a village in Andhra Pradesh troubling a big group of lay people as their slaves for digging diamonds from the ground illegally. Manivannan is one among them and unable to bear the suffering, he bursts out in anger assuring the baddies that his son will surely get it retaliated.
The scene immediately switches over to 20 minutes of visual kind of advertisement for Car racing, where we have the hero Vetrivel (Vijay) winning it and then followed by a title song where he shakes his leg with Malavika. But sooner, trouble falls on his way when a stranger along with his group asks him and his family to vacate the house.
Situations force him to fleet for Malaysia along with his friend played Vivek as a carrier and over there he has to face unexpected sequences that will let the hidden dark mysteries revealed.
Getting on with the performance, Vijay does a stupendous job when it comes to stunts and dance, but you know something? A person jumping from a long height, breaking a tree by kicking it is something that will make you laugh instead applause for. If Vijay continues to go for same kind of stuffs, then we are sure that Ilayathalapathy will overtake Telugu Superstar Balakrishnan who does more unbelievable comedic stunts like Kicking the track and re-routing the train from one platform to another and Mahesh Babu who breaks the wall into bricks just with a fist of hand.
Trisha on the other hand has nothing when compared to Jyothikaâs performance in Dhool as directed by Dharani. Her dance is horrible and emoting to the situations are also not up to the expectations. Vivek is the only convincing part for the film and he makes you laugh to peak with his rib-trickling comedy tracks right throughout the first half. But the greatest flaw is Dharani putting an end to him in the second half.
Suman looks so bubbly that he is not apt for the negative role and it would have been nice if he was termed with starting lines of the song âMolu Molunuâ.
Though couple of songs has been tuned in well like title song âDandana Darnaâ and âNew Year Songâ, other songs arenât placed properly and it looks odd and makes you yawn with few. And you get vexed with the stunts, for they form major portion of the film. If stunts in the film are extracted, then duration of the movie would be hardly for 60mins.
Few traces of Telugu movie Bangaru directed by Dharani and stunt scenes imitated from Mahesh Babu Starrer Nandu are easily blatant.
As a whole, Kuruvi is a movie that can be watched for those who love lots of stunts without a gripping story and screenplay. A treat for diehard fan of Vijay and nothing special from Dharani who raised our expectations and now dashing it allâŚ
