Ajith’s Daughter’s Naming Ceremony

Finally the cat is out of the bag, the naming ceremony of Ajith daughter took place in his residence at Tiruvanmiyur on 14th March 2008. Since the baby was born under a particular birth star, there were numerous speculations and guesses about her name. But based on her star sign, Ajith has christened her name as Anoushka, a Sanskrit word which means cherished dreams come true.
Shalini delivered Anoushka in a caesarean surgery in the Apollo Hospital in the wee hours of January 03, 2008 at 01.30 a.m. Many of his close friends and family members were present during the naming ceremony. Wishing Anoushka a bright life lit up with robust health and happiness always.

ஏகனில் நடித்துவரும் அஜித் அடுத்து கெளதம் வாசுதேவ மேனன் இயக்கும் படத்தில் நடிக்கிறார். இந்தத் தகவலை நடிகர் பிரபு வெளியிட்டுள்ளார்!
பிரபுவின் சிவாஜி ஃபிலிம்ஸ் புதிய பறவை படத்தை ரீ-மேக் செய்ய முயற்சிகள் எடுத்து வந்தது. இதில் நடிக்க அஜித்திடம் கால்ஷீட் கேட்கப்பட்டது.

குழந்தைகளின் படத்தை பத்திரிக்கைகளுக்கு தருவதில்லை என்பதில் இளயை தளபதி கறாராக இருக்கிறார். பத்திரிக்கைகளில் குழந்தைகளின் புகைப்படம் பிரசுரமாவதை தவிர்ப்பதற்காக, பொது நிகழ்ச்சிகளுக்குக் கூட அவர்களை அழைத்து வருவதில்லை.
அதையும் மீறி சில வருடங்களுக்கு முன் ரசிகர் மன்றப் பத்திரிக்கையொன்று விஜய் மகனின் பிறந்தநாள் படத்தை பிரசுரித்தது. டென்ஷனான விஜய், சம்பந்தப்பட்ட பத்திரிக்கை விர்வாகத்திடமிருந்து மகனின் புகைப்படத்தை வாங்கிய பிறகே ஓய்ந்தார்.

குழந்தைக்கு பெயர் சூட்டும் விழாவை தனது வீட்டில் எளிமையாக கொண்டாடினார் அஜித். இந்த விழாவில் அஜித் - ஷாலினி குடும்பத்தினர் மட்டுமே கலந்துகொண்டனர்.
அஜித் மனைவி ஷாலினிக்கு ஜனவரி மாதம் பெண் குழந்தை பிறந்தது. குழந்தைக்கு இதுவரை பெயர் சூட்டவில்லை. நேற்று அஜித்தின் திருவான்மியூர் வீட்டில் நடந்த விழாவில் அனோஸ்கா என்று குழந்தைக்கு பெயர் வைக்கப்பட்டது. அனோஸ்கா என்றால் கனவுகளை நிறைவேற்றுபவள் என்று அர்த்தமாம் (எந்த மொழியில்?).
அஜித் தனது குழந்தையின் புகைப்படத்தை பத்திரிக்கைகளுக்கு தருவதாக இருந்தார். குழந்தையின் படம் பத்திரிக்கைகளில் வருவது பல்வேறு பிரச்சனைகளை உருவாக்கும் என விஜய் தடுத்ததால், தனது எண்ணத்தை அஜித் மாற்றிக் கொண்டார்.

உற்சாகம், பக்குவம், தெளிவு, நிதானம் இவற்றின் கலவையாக இருக்கிறார் அஜீத். அண்மையில் மீடியாவை சந்தித்து மனம் திறந்தார்.
‘பில்லா’ எல்லா வகையிலும் நல்லா வந்திருப்பதால் உற்சாகத்துடன் கேள்விகளை எதிர்கொண்டார். பேச ஆரம்பித்ததும் மீடியாவுக்கும் ரசிகர்களுக்கும் நன்றி கூறினார்.

நாங்க சேர்ந்து ‘ராஜாவின் பார்வையிலே’ங்கிற படத்துல நடிச்சிருக்கோம். ‘நேருக்கு நேர்’ படத்துல கூட நடிக்கிறதா இருந்திச்சு. ஆனா அமையல. இப்ப ரெண்டு பேரும் வளர்ந்திருக்கோம். அதுக்கு இப்ப அவசியமில்லை. ஏன்னா விஜய் ஒரு படம் நடிச்சா அதில் ஆயிரம் குடும்பத்துக்கு வேலை கிடைக்கும். நான் ஒரு படம் நடிச்சா அதுல ஆயிரம் குடும்பம் சந்தோஷப்படும். ரெண்டு பேரும் சேர்ந்து நடிச்சாலும் அதே ஆயிரம் குடும்பத்துக்குத்தான் வேலைவாய்ப்பு. அதனால்தான் இது தேவையில்லைன்னு சொல்றேன்.

பக்குவம்தான். இப்போ எனக்கு 36 வயசு ஆகுது. நானும் மெச்சூர்டாய்ட்டு வர்றேன். வயதும் ஒரு காரணம். இன்னும் பத்து வருஷம் கழிச்சு இன்னும் மெச்சூர்டா பேசுவேன். வயது ஏற ஏற பக்குவமும் தானா வந்திடும்.

Ameer, who is busy with Yogi, is planning to direct films featuring Jayam Ravi and Vikram after he finishes Yogi. When queried about his choice of best actor among the contemporaries, he picks out Vikram’s name. “I tell this after a deep thought”, asserts the director.
“My next choice is Ajith”, he adds. We could do wonders with an actor like Ajith but he is caught in the ‘action’ web, opines Ameer. He is confident of bringing out a different Ajith, if he gets a chance to direct the ‘Ultimate Star’.

After the stupendous success of ‘Billa’ expectations are running high amidst Ajith fans for ‘thalai’s next film ‘Aegan’. This film is being directed by the very popular dance master Raju Sundaram who will take the director’s chair for the first time. We were all seeing and wondering about Ajith sporting a beard for around half a year now. The hero, who looks smashing with a clean shave, had not used the razor even when his daughter was born.
But now the suspense is out and we all know that Ajith was sporting the beard for ‘Aegan’. So far all news about this film as well as Ajith role was a tightly bottled up secret. We had only been informed that Ajith will essay a very different role in this film. But in a recent interview to the press the director Raju Sundaram has come out with more news on Ajith’s role as well as on the film ‘Aegan’.
In this fast-paced flick Ajith will be seen as a hard core, and rough cop who completes any task assigned to him successfully. Ajith with his original beard in place will have Nayantara as his heroine. Will the ‘Billa’ magic work yet again, let’s wait and watch.
‘Aegan’ also has a very impressive star cast with Suhasini Mani Rathnam, Jayaram, Suman, Nasser, M.S. Bhaskar, Sriman, and ‘Arinthum Ariyamalum’ fame Navdeep.
Raju, the director, has said that this film will have the right dose of romance, humour as well as hair-raising stunts scenes. This film also has a speciality – in the sense one stunt scene for ‘Aegan’ was choreographed by none other that the stunt choreographer of Jackie Chan himself and this stunt features hero Ajith Kumar. The director has planned to shoot the song sequences for this film from the exquisite locales of England, New Zealand and Australia. One more credit that ‘Aegan’ has is that it is the first film in the Tamil industry to be shot from Hong Kong.
This big-budget film is made under the banner of Ayangaran International. The producers of the film are Ayangaran Karuna Murthy and Arun Pandiyan.
The director Raju Sundaram has promised that he will work very hard for this film and he has also said that ‘Aegan’ will be one of the best films ever in the Tamil film industry. Well, with many brownie points to its credit in terms of the cast, crew and the locations we expect it to be a fantastic grosser and an all-round entertainer when ‘Aegan’ hits theatres

Starting his career as a mechanic, Ajith made his acting debut in his only Telugu-language film-to-date, Prema Pustagam in 1992, which was followed by Amaravathi in the following year, his first lead role. After acting in a series of smaller budget films, Ajith was later recognized for his performance an anonymous lover in the award-winning movie Kadhal Kottai. He went on to demonstrate his versatility as an actor by portraying a variety of unique characters.
Ajith received his first Filmfare Best ACTOR Award for his performance in Vaali in 1999, portraying a double-role. He went on to win two consecutive Filmfare Best Actor Awards — in the 2001 film Citizen, in which he appeared in nine different appearances, and in the 2002 film, Villain, playing twins, one of which had a disability. He was later recognized for his triple role in Varalaru, his biggest grosser to date and for his more sensitive character portrayal in Kireedam. Ajith thus established himself as a leading actor of contemporary Tamil cinema.
In addition to being an actor, Ajith is a race driver, having driven in Formula Three for a season and an active ambassador for the Green Revolution. He is known in the Indian media for publicly speaking his mind and openly expressing his opinions, occasionally surrounding himself with controversy.

Ajith Kumar was born in Hyderabad, India. Ajith is the middle son of three children.The others being Anil Kumar and Anup Kumar.Both are software engineers. Ajith’s father is a Palakkad iyer and mother a Saurashtrian and derives his roots from around Tanjore (or) Thanjavur of Tamil Nadu. In his childhood he was brought up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Schooling days were numbered for Ajith as he dropped out of Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School in 1986 to become a part-time two-four wheeler mechanic and a full-time garment exporter based in Erode till 1990. Business agencies pushed him into modelling for adverts in print media. He also took it on realising an income in the job.It eventually paved his way into Tollywood otherwise known as the Telugu film industry and later into Kollywood.

(Ajith)Thala started his film career at the age of 21 as an actor in the Telugu movie Prema Pustagam in 1992.[1]. His next film was in Tamil entitled Amaravathi for which he was paid a token salary of Rs.390.[2] His second Tamil film Pavithra[3] was delayed for 17 months because of a racing injury that left him bed-ridden. Both films received appreciation from the Tamil audience.[4] It was his third Tamil film that released 10 months later in 1995, Aasai, directed by Vasanthan and produced by Mani Rathnam which helped to establish his career as a teen icon in Kollywood.[5]Ajith’s first big budget venture was Aasai but it was only after the release Agathiyan’s Vaanmathi and particularly the National Award winning Kadhal Kottai which established him as an accomplished actor in Kollywood. Ajith later played the lead in Amitabh Bachchan’s debut Tamil production[6] in Ullasam. This venture paid him a salary of over Rs.1 million for the first time ever.
A string of successful movies followed, most notably Kadhal Mannan and Aval Varuvala and the multiple award winning Vaali which cast him alongside Simran. Vaali saw a new peak in Ajith’s career. He played a dual role in the film,one as a deaf-and-dumb twin who lusts after his naive brother’s wife.[7][8]After Amarkalam[9] with his fiancee Shalini, Ajith set up his own distribution company AK International with the office located within the premises of NIC Arts which was run by his friend-producer-distributor S.S.Chakravarthi. This office was shifted in 2006.In 2000, Ajith was cast alongside Mammooty, Abbas, Tabu and Aishwarya Rai in Kandukondain Kandukondain. The film’s audio rights were sold for a record Rs.22 million, which still stands.[10] Mugavari followed as Ajith acted alongside Jyothika.[11]

In 2001, Ajith played the role of Shahrukh Khan’s brother in the historical film Asoka. He began the year with Dheena directed by A.R. Murugadas. This showed Ajith as a rowdy alongside Suresh Gopi and Laila. Several movies followed including the blockbuster Citizen opposite Vasundhara Das; romantic entertainers like Poovellam Un Vasam and Raja opposite Jyothika and the action flick Red.[12]
In 2003 and 2004, Ajith acted in Anjaneya, Jana and Attagasam opposite Meera Jasmine, Sneha and Pooja respectively. Unfortunately none of the films had met the expectations. Even then, Ajith didn’t lose hope and acted in the film Ji opposite Trisha.The movie was a huge flop. The film did not do well as expected beforehand as the producers had failed to release the film when it was first made. Ajith had reached an all time low in his career and that made him sit idle without any offers for the next one year.

By contrast, in 2006, Ajith acted 3 in projects, Paramasivan directed P.Vasu,Thirupathi directed by Perarasu. Both were Moderate Hits. Later that year he released his 3 years project Varalaru directed by K. S. Ravikumar. Varalaru turned out to be a blockbuster.He donned a triple role playing a father and two sons. The role got him a Filmfare award for best actor 2007.
Ajith’s first film in 2007 was with the newcomer director Chella entitled Aalwar. Both Varalaru and Aalwar were opposite Asin. Aalwar did not live up to the expectations created by the success of Varalaru, as a result it was another major let down for Ajith. After [Aalwar]], Ajith acted in a remake of a 1989 National Award winning Mohanlal classic, entitled Kireedam opposite Trisha Krishnan. The film was produced by Anil Ambani’s conglomerate Adlabs Films and will mark their entry into Kollywood. Ajith sustained a recurring spinal injury on the sets of the film.[13] Kireedam, though a critically acclaimed film it didn’t do well at box office. However Ajith was well appreciated for acting in such an emotional and different film. On 14th Dec 2007,Ajit’s Magnus Opus BILLA released Breaking all records.The film got an opening equal to that of Rajnikanth’s Sivaji.In kerala it is the highest grossing movie of all times breaking records set by mohanlal and mamooty and also the recently released Sivaji.This info was published in THE HINDU news paper. The film is a remake of Rajinikanth’s 1980 Tamil film Billa which itself was a remake of Amitabh Bachan’s 1978 Hindi film Don which in turn was remade by Shah Rukh Khan in 2006 as Don again.The film is directed by Vishnuvardhan and the expectations are high on this film with Nayanthara,Namitha and Rose Dawn paired with Ajith for the first time. After Billa, Ajith is currently filming for Aegan directed by Raju Sundaram. Ajith is filming for the film from January 2008, possibly for a June 2008 release.

In early 1999, he began dating his Amarkalam co-star Shalini. Ajith’s involvement with Shalini also made him a regular subject of tabloid gossip then, a role to which he was unaccustomed. They got married in 2000 in Chennai where they invited many other Kollywood actors and actresses including Rajnikanth, Kamal Hasan, Vijay, Surya and R. Madhavan. As both were of different religions Ajith being a Hindu and Shalini being a Christian,they were married together in the customs of both religions. After their marriage in the year 2000, Shalini retired as an actress and became a full time housewife. However she did accompany Ajith to the sets of his films as moral support. On January 3rd, 2008, the couple were blessed with a baby girl, Anoushka.

Since the start of his career in Tollywood and Kollywood, Ajith was well known for being outspoken and genuine about his life and projects. He was also outspoken about his affair with a particular actress. In 1997 Ajith was romantically linked to fellow actress Heera.[14] Both first met in sets and so acted three films together before becoming romantically linked. Ajith and Heera split up in 1999 due to unknown causes. That same year Ajith met his future wife Shalini on the sets of Amarkalam in 1999. They only waited one year before they got married.

Ajith is a professional car racer who drove in circuits around India in places such as Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. He had also been abroad in his various races including Germany and Malaysia. He drove in the Formula 3 for the team Mango Racing. Ajith took part in many races but he was not very successful. So he discontinued his car racing career and he returned to acting in Kollywood.
[edit] Ambassador For The Green Revolution
Ajith is an ambassador for the Green Revolution, an awareness campaign and effort to clean up the Chennai environment.[15] He uses his films for subtle marketing of his ideas, and planted 101 saplings in his locality in Adyar, Chennai in 2005. This was make an awareness for the environment and to increase oxygen levels in Channai, due to the pollution caused by everyday motorists. This action was welcomed by the public. Since then the Green Revolution themselves have went on to plant many saplings in other parts of Tamil Nadu.

Ajith created this non-profit organisation named after his parents in order to promote self-hygiene and civic consciousness, and to help ease the problems of urban sprawl.[16] The Mohini-Mani Foundation became important to Ajith from 2003 onwards and he now continues to fund the non-profit organisation to make sure he keeps helping to ease the problems of urban sprawl.

Ajith over the years in the has won multiple awards for his acting. He won the Best New Face Award from Bharatmuni Art Academy for his debut film Prema Pustagam in Telugu. After this award he won three more , a Filmfare Award, a Cinema Express Award and a Dinakaran Cinema Award for the film Vaali in 1999. He then won another Cinema Express - Best Artist Award for the film Mugavari in 2000.
In 2001 he won the Special Actor - State Award for the film Poovellam Un Vasam. He then won another Filmfare Award and another Dinakaran Cinema Award for the film Villain in 2002. Ajith Kumar has also won the Filmfare Best Actor Award South on two occasions and Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award (Tamil) for the Movie Kandukondain Kandukondain. On one occasion J.Jayalalitha presented him with a State Award. In 2007 he won his 4th Filmfare Best Actor Award South for the film Varalaru.

But there are times when the critic in us gets a chance to defend something new, something that deserves its place at the top. Talent is nothing without opportunity and the world often tends to be unkind and dismissive to talent that does not get the right opportunity. Not every opportunity is the right one but the right one can come any time and when the time comes the talent blooms. For years now this man has been the Aegan in Kollywood, battling on, fighting and faltering but never giving up. For a leading hero his success-failure ratio is not very bright, something even he will agree being an honest and straightforward man. Yet for the thousands of Thala fans who throng theaters every time his film releases he has been and remains the Ultimate Star Ajith Kumar. His career has been much like a rose plant, there have been the roses of success but there are also thorns of failure that have hurt. Looking at it objectively, he has had more ups and downs in his career than the average Kollywood flick in which he appears and in spite of all that he is here in 2008, more than 15 years after his debut, vindicating the unflinching support of his adoring fans, his well wishers. Today Billa completes 100 days in theaters.
What does this unique 100 mean to Ajith? First, it is a rasping answer to all those who have doubted his abilities. When Billa was announced there were a lot of aspersions cast. Can Ajith carry off a role that was immortalized by the Superstar, can he bring the same magic on screen or will this one be a lame and pale reflection on one of Rajini’s landmark movies? These were tough questions to answer and to carry on with one’s work in the face of such imposing expectations was tougher. But driven by conviction, determination and faith in the director Ajith soldiered on. The confidence that stemmed out of his widely appreciated performance in Kreedom must also have helped. The product was not a simple recreation of what we saw and loved in 1981, Billa 2007 was a stylish, slick and sleek adaptation of Tamil cinema’s Don. Style was redefined and a new genre of Tamil cinema emerged, one driven by style and presentation, we are sure to see more movies bordering on this genre soon. The hard work put in and the faith sown in the director shine through in every frame of Billa.
To not give adequate credit to the entire team that realized the Billa dream would be gross injustice and so here is the roll of honor. First, to Vishnuvardhan for his great vision and gumption to attempt something as risky as Billa, no film in the recent past has margins of error with potentially disastrous consequences as Bill had. Also, a very special mention on behalf of all Thala fans for bringing to us the resurgent Ultimate Star, free from the shackles of troublesome failures. The technical team was of paramount importance in actualizing the stylish vision that Vishnuvardhan had for Billa. Be it the fights, the chases or the lighting, everything had class and finesse, elements that separate the hits from the blockbusters.
2007 has been a great year for fans of the Ultimate Star. Their faith in their beloved Thala has come good. Of course, the year started off in the same familiarly disturbing pattern of failure with Aalwar. But Kreedom turned the tide. Not a money raker, but a movie that reminded us of the talents that Ajith possesses as an actor. Then, along came Billa and the rest as they say, is history. Today, on the 100th day of Billa’s theatrical run (reign) when we look back down the line we can see how close Thala was, to being a spring that may never have blossomed. There were times when weaker men would have lost hope but he stood firm. Ajith is back and he is on track.
Maybe, becoming a father brings with it the charms of success. May this charm continue to work. We need the Aegan of Kollywood to give us more Billas
