The release date of the much-delayed ‘Billa II’ has finally been confirmed as July 13 by In Entertainment, the producer of the film. The Ajith-starrer was scheduled for release on June 22 along with actor Karthi’s ‘Saguni’. But the delay in release of the film turned in favour of ‘Saguni’, which is being screened (‘Shakuni’ in Telugu) in over 1,150 screens, the highest number for a Karthi starrer so far. The film, however, has received mixed reviews.
‘Billa II’, which will be released by Aascar Films, seems to have set 1,200 screens as its target. The film will be released in Telugu as ‘David Billa’ on the same day.
The first look of the film will be unveiled in a grand event in the Chennai in the first week of July, followed by media promotions. The film will also be released with subtitles in Malaysia, France and a few Gulf countries.
‘Billa II’ is a prequel to ‘Billa’ (2007), which is a remake of Rajinikanth’s ‘Billa’ (1980). The movie has been given an ‘A’ certificate and was originally slated for release in May.
If the film releases on July 13, it will have completed a year since its launch on July 14, 2011. Friday the 13th is said to bring bad luck, but the makers of ‘Billa II’ don’t seem worried about it.
