K. JANANI DECCAN CHRONICLE
The Ajith-Trisha starrer Mankatha, directed by Venkat Prabu, has been in the news since shooting began. The major portions of the film have been shot in Mumbai, with important chunks were shot in Hyderabad as well. Ajith fans went berserk after some of `Thala’s punch dialogues from the film were leaked.
The director of the film had planned to shoot Mankatha’s climax in Madurai and the producers were making arrangements to present the climax in a lavish way. Since the climax is completely action-oriented, the producers and the directors felt that Madurai would be the apt spot to film the sequence.
But recently, the Mankatha team shifted base to Chennai for the climax sequence.
Sources from the industry say that since most of the film was shot in Mumbai, Chennai would match the background. Another reason could be that `Thala’ has the maximum number of fans in Madurai and the crew felt it would be tough to shoot on the outskirts of Madurai. Reportedly, now the climax has finally been shot in Chennai.
After the climax the crew will fly to Hyderabad to can the remaining scenes in the film.
The production co-ordinator of the film confirms, “The film’s climax has been shot in Chennai and the crew will now shift to Hyderabad for some crucial scenes.“
Innumerable `Thala’ fans, who were waiting for a glimpse of their `ultimate star,’ may be disappointed by Mankatha’s sudden change of schedule, but public curiosity about the film has increased after all the hype.
